I grew up being surrounded by creativity, I come from a family of artists and musicians. From an early age I began showing a great deal of interest in drawing and creating through multiple mediums.
My paintings depict what I love and what I see. I live in one of the greatest cities in the world, New Orleans, LA. I've been lucky enough to have traveled and experienced many different cultures, history, characters, architecture, and spirits. Each painting depicts a different feeling that I've captured at one time or another through the inspiration from these observations. google-site-verification: google9b483237f4773a5d.html
I'm infatuated with the relationship of nature taking back what man has built from it. Such as the old homes here in New Orleans, where the weeds are fully growing back over the blighted properties. Architecture itself intrigues me, and in New Orleans we are certainly not lacking a diverse amount of it.
If there was a way I could attempt to capture the importance of all of the culture, history and over all eccentricities this city exudes I could never do it with just words. This is why I've chosen to paint and assemble with multiple mediums on old doors, essentially using them as my canvas. I feel as if I can give these doors a "second life" so to speak, people will be both inspired and constantly reminded of the spirit of New Orleans.
The subjects in which I've chosen to portray, are all personally significant. I come from a family full of musicians, and now my husband as well. As previously stated, I've always loved architecture. Plants, nature exploration, getting my hands dirty, and woodworking are all things that consume my free time. As a born and raised Louisianan, I am honored to be a part of this unique almost unexplainable phenomenon we call home, and I hope to express that in each piece I put my heart into.
